Retire to Iowa? Absolutely

August 4, 2023

Corn fields, friendly locals, a quiet, yet fun atmosphere. We’ve known Iowa was a great place to live for decades, but it’s also the hotspot for Americans looking to relocate during their retirement years.

A new report from Bankrate found that Iowa is the number one destination for retirees, thanks to a lower cost of living, affordable, quality healthcare and low crime.

The report, which analyzed all 50 states on the basis of affordability, the cost and quality of health care, overall well-being, weather and crime, notes that Iowa offers a unique retirement experience for many Americans seeking a more relaxed and affordable lifestyle with access to the outdoors and retirement-age communities.

Another perk of relocating to Iowa was the stable, more affordable housing market, allowing those moving to the state to take advantage of the equity they may have built in their prior cities to purchase with little new debt.
