Des Moines Area REALTORS Foundation Donate More than $500,000 to Local Charities

Since 2000 the Des Moines Area Association of REALTORS® Foundation has given more than $560,000 to local Des Moines charities to meet community needs. Aside from volunteering and serving the Des Moines area, Des Moines REALTORS have supported charities that support men, women, and children in the Des Moines metro community through the Des Moines Area REALTORS® Foundation.

The grantees included: Anawim Housing, Camp Sunnyside, Central Iowa Shelter, Children & Families of Iowa, House of Mercy, Hope Ministries, Hawthorne Directions, Orchard Place, Red Cross, Youth Home of Mid America, Homes of Oakridge, Beacon of Life, YESS Emergency Shelter.

"Helping people live the american dream and own their own homes is only part of what we do as REALTORS. Every year, DMAAR members give back to the community we live and work in by supporting area nonprofits with our time and donations," says John McRoberts, president of the Des Moines Area Association of REALTORS® Foundation. "This year is no different. The Foundation recently awarded grants to area organization that provide critical services to our community and we're pleased we can help them serve more families in the Des Moines area."

The Foundation is supported by a portion of the dues paid by members of the Des Moines Area Association of REALTORS® and member donations. The Foundation funds housing projects and needs through the Des Moines metro community. The Foundation Committee members are as follows: John McRoberts, Randy Clarkson, Robin Polder, Mike Knapp, Doug Burnett, and Marcia Wanamaker.
