Join us at The Hall in West Des Moines to get the inside scoop from city leaders about the newest developments in the metro. We'll have representatives from Ankeny, Des Moines, Waukee, and West Des Moines on a panel who will dive into a great discussion that you won’t want to miss.

1) Brad Deets, Waukee, City Administrator
Brad Deets has served as the City Administrator since April 2022. In this role, he serves as the Chief Administrative Officer of the City and holds full responsibility to plan, develop, implement and coordinate the ongoing activities of the City of Waukee including administration of all departments, divisions, offices and services. Prior to being appointed City Administrator, Brad held the roles of Community Development Director and Assistant City Administrator. He has been employed with the City of Waukee since January 2006. Deets holds both a bachelor's degree in Community and Regional Planning and a Master of Business Administration degree from Iowa State University. He is a member of the International City/County Management Association and the American Institute of Planners (AICP). Brad, along with his wife and three children, are proud to call Waukee their home.
2) Clyde Evans, West Des Moines, Director of Community & Economic Development
A native of Illinois, Clyde Evans graduated from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana with a degree in Urban and Regional Studies and has over four decades of experience as a city planner and economic developer. Clyde has worked for the City of West Des Moines since 1991 as the Director of Community and Economic Development. Before that, Clyde was the Economic Development Director for the South Central Illinois Regional Planning and Development Commission in Salem, Illinois; the Assistant Planning Director of Simi Valley, California; and served as the Planning Director in Palmdale, California.

4) Derek Lord, Ankeny, Economic Development Director

Derek Lord is the Economic Development Director for the City of Ankeny, where his primary role is business retention, expansion, and recruitment. Derek’s work touches a diverse range of projects and new initiatives aimed at growing Ankeny’s workforce. Prior to joining the City of Ankeny nine years ago, he held community and economic development leadership positions with the Iowa Economic Development Authority and City of Green Bay, Wisconsin. Lord has a degree from Simpson College and a Master’s degree in Urban & Regional Planning from the University of Iowa.
